SIMBOLO ok 4The “SmartDMO - Tourism knowledge community platform” project was developed by Calabresi Creativi: an association of five young people “mad” for innovation and willing to do something for their region, by increasing value of the huge potential that is often hindered by fragmentation and isolation of different operators in Calabria’s tourism industry. The initiative was started and made possible by the Social Innovation call, published in 2012 by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) under the Italian National Operative Programme for Research and Competitiveness 2007-2013. A tool for under-30 year-old people aimed at funding social innovation projects capable of satisfying the specific needs of the reference region in a new way. Selected among the winners of the Social Innovation call, Calabresi Creativi proposal has been implemented as an online platform aimed at providing a new tourist offer, promoting it via Internet and social media, enhancing it according to visitor needs and verifying its appeal, by monitoring and assessing the results achieved.
